AASHub

Accelerating Industrial IoT integration through Asset Administration Shell template implementation

In practice, the integration of heterogeneous IoT components is often a complex and confusing process. The different ways of representing information about individual assets create the desire for a standardized representation. The asset administration shell creates a digital exchange format for this purpose with the potential to significantly increase the degree of automation in the integration of IoT components.

This potential is to be exploited and put into practice as part of the AASHub project funded by EIT Manufacturing in cooperation between the Chair of Digital Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum and industry partners Contact Software, the Böllhoff Group and Prima Industrie. The aim of the project is to develop a connection for integrating information from the asset administration shell into the IoT platform Contact Elements for IoT. Subsequently, the concept is validated by two use cases from the industry partners.
